She made me feel safe and took great care in making sure any threats to my mental and physical health were taken care of, so I could focus solely on giving birth. I’ve had a couple babies before, but I usually just muscled through them, and felt so exhausted by the end. Even though labor is no walk in the park, dereka showed me how to birth in a way I never had before, and it gave me strength to handle each coming contraction—we were even laughing through parts of my labor! I don’t know what I would have done without her. I’m so lucky to have had her by my side, and feel that I found not just a midwife ~but a friend for life.”
