There are several different options when choosing a childbirth education class.
Childbirth education class should be on the top of your registry list right next to a doula.
Hospital offered childbirth education classes are great, but my classes will help build your confidence in your body’s ability to give birth and explore the needs of you and your partner during this life changing time. A 2016 study presented at the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine’s annual meeting showed folks who took childbirth education classes or had birth preferences were 25% more likely to have vaginal birth vs. those who didn’t. One of the reasons for this is that fear has a big impact on complications during labor and delivery. Understanding your body's physiology is the key to a positive birth.
There are so many choices to make before the baby even arrives. When we meet, I help you discuss the hard topics of choosing a pediatrician, circumcision, vaccinations, cloth or disposable diapers, childcare if returning to work, who will be at the birth and more while providing evidence-based practices surrounding all this information.
What if you are like me and this is not your first rodeo? Well, as practices and processes change, a quick refresher can help bring even the most experienced parent up to speed. Because let's be honest ya'll they are coming out with new stuff by the minute. I can't even keep up! By the way, this whole journey is a team sport, so grabbing your boo and going through one of my classes together gives you both the confidence to feel like you can rock this thing – and that can help make sure you are both vibing and reduces stress later.
